For professionals who refuse to settle
You’re not confused or stuck. You just need stronger conviction.
I wrote the first draft of this newsletter back in December 2021, rereading it now feels like meeting a different version of myself.
On December 1st, 2021, I officially resigned from [redacted] company.
The funny thing is when I took up this job, I told myself it was going to be a short 3-month stint (I laugh in Spanish). Somehow, three months became 39.
I didn’t resign on a whim though.
There’d been a build-up of emotions for years, but I kept brushing them off. I wanted to move on but didn’t know how to position myself for the next role.
And when I did, all I got was crickets. Every rejection (or silence) chipped away at my confidence.
So, I convinced myself I wasn’t good enough and decided I wouldn’t leave until I had another job lined up.
Then in November 2021, I fell terribly sick.
On my way to the hospital, the only thought that kept running through my mind: I need to resign, rest, and be home with my newborn. Three days after being discharged, I told my boss I was leaving.
Why I resigned:
My work wasn’t clear.
As Operations Manager, I was involved in everything - admin, HR, inventory, property discussions, supply chain - but never a decision-maker. I had the title, but not the authority.
The lack of clarity and endless back-and-forth wore me down. It wasn’t fast-paced; it was just poor decision-making without context.
I wanted growth, but it wasn’t happening. My work wasn’t valued, there was no guidance from leadership, just blame games and impromptu meetings with no real outcomes.
And don’t even get me started on the non-existent remote work policy - something I needed badly as a new mom.
Four Years Later…
Everything looks different.
By January 2022, I had transitioned into a new remote role in tech - and that decision became the foundation for everything that followed.
I’ve since multiplied that former annual income by six, relocated without job hunting, and reinvented my career - expanding my skills in ways I once only dreamed of, with the flexibility and agency I always wanted.
That same year, I started this newsletter.
It now reaches 10K+ of you across 98 countries.
Looking back, those three days in the hospital were my wake-up call. I didn’t know exactly what was next, but I knew it was time to go.
That’s the power of conviction.
What I’ve Learned
Through my own pivots, I’ve learned to trust my gut, stay curious, and keep moving - even when the path wasn’t clear.
I’m more self-aware, grounded, and clear-headed.
I’ve sharpened my inner voice and leaned into purpose.
Over time, I’ve coached 100+ mid- to senior-level professionals into roles that align with both their skills and their lives, and helped over 15,000 people navigate transitions through my newsletter, content and digital products.
Your career should fuel your life - not drain it.
There’s so much more waiting on the other side of fear.
And if you’re in that place of uncertainty, I get it - the countless what-ifs and should-I’s.
You’re not lost.
You’re not confused.
You just want more, and you’ll get there.

Thank you so much Wamide for this post!!!
This is the second time I will compose this message but I will still write it again!!
Wamide, your journey is literally the same as what I am going through right now 🥺
I left my job last year December because of misalignment and lack of clarity in some aspects.
It felt like I was crazy and even many times this year, I still feel like am I okayy?? I didn't have any job lined up, and I don't still have a job. But what I do have is a training business for staff of small businesses that I'm building brick by brick.
Being a business owner in this sense is something I have neverrrr seen myself doing, but I saw a need and decided to step in to train. That was how it started.
You are far ahead in your journey, but your sharing just gave me more fueell. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! 🥹
You don't know how much this helps. I literally just discovered you today and I'm wowed!!!
Please if there is another Ask Me anything session happening, I WOULD LOVE TO BE THERE!!
