When I sent a message to a âcasual friendâ asking to meet up for dinner on his birthday, I had no idea Iâll end up marrying him. I was just bored at work.Â
When I sent a cold LinkedIn outreach to a C-suite exec at a top recruiting firm, I wasnât sure she was going to respond. Now, CAWSTEM has a 1 year training partnership signed with the firm.
When I reached out to a founder friend of mine asking if he knew any job opportunities or had any openings at his startup, I had not the slightest inkling that Iâd join the startup in less than 3 months working a role I absolutely enjoy.Â
Itâs true what they say. You miss 100% of the shots you donât take.
But itâs not always easy to just shoot your shot. I know how uncertain, scary, and frightening it is to take some shots.
In shooting shots, Iâve had to really step out of my comfort zone both personally and professionally. What Iâve noticed is that the more I try, the easier it gets to take some more shots.Â
You should try out these tips when shooting your shot.
Start small. Take a small step towards achieving that goal.
Be prepared. Come correct. Be ready, donât be suboptimal in the name of shooting your shot.
Take action. Just try, whatâs the worst that could happen.
Donât take rejections personally. Theyâre not necessarily a reflection of you or your abilities. But donât also take them for granted, pay attention to the lesson to be learned.
This tweet sums up all Iâm saying.
In essence, todayâs note is simple. Shoot your shot!
Your growth as a conscious being is measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations you are willing to have.
