The first time I took a personality test was in 2017.
Back then, I was working in consulting and trying to figure out what I really wanted.
Since then, I’ve changed jobs thrice, changed countries and started over (more than once), gotten married, become a parent, launched a newsletter, started coaching, and learned to trust myself and my inner gut more.
Naturally, the results from those personality tests have changed too.
Because I’m constantly evolving - and so is my voice.
With each pivot, mistake, or milestone, I’ve come home to myself a little more.
This version of me - with multiple dreams, many career paths, and lessons learned - is my voice.
Sometimes uncertain. Sometimes bold. Sometimes quiet but clear.
So if you’re feeling lost, overlooked, or unsure of how to show up, here’s what I’ve learned about finding your voice in the middle of the noise:
Lesson 1: Know Yourself
Not just who you’ve been - but who you’re becoming.
Personality tests are great tools, but real self-knowledge comes from reflecting on your values, your seasons, your desires. Pay attention to the patterns.
Where do you feel most at ease? What work feels draining? What do people consistently come to you for?

Lesson 2: Create Quiet for Clarity
Moving countries for my MBA was the first time I truly experienced quiet.
I saw myself more. Heard myself more. Became more in tune with myself.
Sometimes, the noise outside makes it hard to hear what’s within.
That’s why I’ve been intentional about creating quiet. I once took an almost 2-year Instagram break (from Aug 2022 to Jan 2024). At this point in my life, I’m comfortable stepping back, delegating more, logging off, or simply giving myself permission to just be without producing.
It’s in these moments that my voice becomes clearer, more grounded.
Silence isn’t empty - it’s space to remember what matters.
Lesson 3: Ask Better Questions
A single question can unlock so much clarity.
Recently, I asked one of my longtime readers, Temilade, if my newsletter still felt warm.
Her response? The single feedback I didn’t know I needed.
That small check-in helped me double down on making content that feels deeply human - not just helpful.
Your voice gets clearer when you listen back. Ask questions. Get feedback. Lean into real conversations.
Lesson 4: Stay Close to What Feels True
In a world that rewards performance, being authentic is brave.
Your voice doesn’t need to be loud - it just needs to be yours.
And the more you practice using it, the clearer it gets.
You are not everyone’s cup of tea - and that’s a good thing.
The more I stopped trying to sound like others, the more resonance I found with the right people.
A reflection for you this week:
What parts of yourself have you been hiding to fit in - and what would happen if you let them speak?
It’s okay if you’re still figuring things out.
I’m still becoming too.
But I’ve realized that:
You don’t become by trying.
You become by being.
And in case you missed it, you can take your free digital self-assessment to better understand your strengths, personality, and goals so you can build a brand that's truly aligned.
So so good and resonates with me on a deep level
Thank you so much for this write up. Currently at that stage in my life where I need to reevaluate, remain authentic and know that my journey is different.
